Sanmina-SCI Implements Upp's IRMS Software
to Attain Global Visibility in Electronic Manufacturing

Sanmina-SCI – a multi-Billion dollar Electronic Manufacturing Services conglomerate – provides end-to-end manufacturing solutions, delivering unsurpassed quality and support to OEMs, primarily in the following sectors: communications, defense and aerospace, industrial and medical instrumentation, computer technology and multi-media.

Worldwide manufacturing operations required a Warehouse Management System to control raw materials, as well as work-in-progress and finished goods, while providing global visibility and accountability.

Solution:

By building an application infrastructure for global processing, Sanmina-SCI was able to orchestrate one worldwide, consolidated logistics operation using IRMS in addition to several third-party Host SAP/Oracle ERP systems. Interfaced with high-speed material handling equipment, conveyor systems and in-line scales, Sanmina-SCI supported various manufacturing assembles for Compaq and HP computers, as well as a "lights out facility" for the distribution of IBM computers.

Sanmina-SCI deployed IRMS Warehouse Management at each of its 14 worldwide sites in the United States, Canada, Mexico, France, Scotland, Hungary, China and Thailand. The implementation effort included multi-site project management, business process analysis and process mapping, personnel and work management, system integration, test plan development for systems quality assurance, and the creation of client-specific IRMS user and software documentation.
